What's Big in Costume Jewelry 2010-2011
The year is almost over and it's ending in a big way, for costume jewelry that is. Costume jewelry necklaces that makes a bold dramatic statement and mimics the look of diamonds or crystals is among one of the bigger hits. Bracelets and rings are also larger than life, with the goal of being the center of attention. The materials are classic costume jewelry: rhinestones, beads, glass, and Lucite. They have a large look without the large price tag. The dramatic designs and color palettes using black, grays, silver and neutral colors are making Winter 2010-2011 a jewelry season that will be hard to forget.
Oversized Necklaces
Move over pins and brooches, because the limelight is on necklaces this season. The necklaces take up a lot of space, like bib necklaces, or offer some daring show stoppers like rhinestones and crystals, even glass designs. Design made with hand blown glass or Venetian glass are making dramatic appearances.
Large Bracelets
While heavy metals abound for some designs, you don't have to use them with costume jewelry. Large leather cuffs are also big this season. They aren't just simple leather cuffs, however, they can are ornamented with stampings and engravings. Even Lucite cuff bracelets are coming back into fashion. This time around, however, they are heavily ornamented with crystals, studs, or even dangling charms. Otherwise, the heavy metal cuffs are also appropriate for this fashion. These bracelets are meant to capture the eye of any passerby.
Honking Rings
Cocktail rings, an oversized gem or crystal, were first made popular during prohibition as a way to flaunt the act of drinking in someone's face. This time the large rings aren't just a single glass gem, but clusters of pearls, beads, or crystals. Some of these rings also use charms as ornamentation. The rings are large and oversized, and made to get attention.
Fashion Costume Jewelry - More for Your Money
If you don't like the idea of wearing your real jewelry when you're out - then there's nothing wrong with that at all. Keep it at home and wear it occasionally. Costume jewelry can be as real looking as you want it to be, or entirely out there and fun to wear. Bold and bright colors and chunky bracelets and belts can make a simple black dress versatile and swing from daytime to that special evening you have planned. There are so many "jewel" encrusted bracelets and brooches and glittery pendant necklaces that if you wanted to, you could indeed look like a million bucks! On the other hand - if you like jade or diamonds or rubies then wearing lifelike but "imitation" jewelry will suit you to a T. It's all out there, and it's all good. When you wearing your glittering diamonds etc., just don't start humming the theme from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
My Wife & Jewellery
I am a happy blogger and use and own a variety of blogs, ranging from my fashion site to my pet rabbit’s blog, don't ask, actually you can it was my wife’s idea and said it would help me get online and meet people – we have had a hard time of it recently and well blogging does help me, but enough of that. However, I don’t normally blog about jewellery, in fact I am not really sure why I am – I mean I will go on to explain it but it still puzzles me why I have bothered, well actually costume jewellery , to be precise. I have been trying to get my nearest and dearest some fashion jewellery for some time now (birthday coming up), and it turns out, that although she seems to like the more expensive stuff I buy her she also like the cheaper end of the costume and fashion jewellery selection. I did not notice this until recently and I have spent the last few weeks reading and looking for some nice fashion jewellery for her indoors. I am thorough when it comes to research and reading reviews of sites, and I like to shout about a good site when I find one, how else are you guys going to know about it? I have found a number of sites but this one that I thought worthy of mentioning in a blog, it is the Chic Fashion Jewellery site and they are really nice and gave me great service, the offer a great selection and a large selection for presents for my wife so really happy about that.
