Jeans were used by miners back in the 1800s (as far as we know). An inventive tailor made them to be sturdy and long lasting and to protect miners' legs from all of those rocks! That original manufacturer's name is still on the brand today. While a uniquely American invention, jeans are in every country of the world and every designer has their own take on this fashion standby. The holey and antique look is still popular. Decorated jeans and jeans in all colors and shapes and sizes abound. Decorations adorn jeans on the legs or the back or front. Some jeans are fancy designer ones and some are bargain basement, but in any of their numerous forms, jeans will always be in our wardrobes. Some people have pairs of jeans that are well over twenty years old! Jeans-lovers also collect them and often have dozens of jeans in the same color, with subtle differences.
